Have
you got a disability related enquiry or problem? |
WHAT IS DISABILITY LIVING
ALLOWANCE(DLA)?
Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
is a benefit for people who need help because of a mental or physical
disability. You can claim DLA if you are under 65. If you are over 65 you may be
able to claim Attendance Allowance instead of DLA.
You can claim DLA whatever your
income or savings.
You do not have to have paid National Insurance contributions.
It can be claimed whether you are working or not.
It can be paid on top of any other benefit and does not reduce the amount you
get in other benefits. It is tax-free.
WHAT IS ATTENDANCE ALLOWANCE (AA)?
Attendance Allowance (AA) is a tax free benefit for people aged 65 or over who
need help because of mental or physical illness or disability. If you are under
65 you should claim Disability Living Allowance instead.
You can claim AA whatever your
income, savings or National Insurance contributions.
It can be claimed whether you are working or not working.
It can be paid on top of any other benefit.
You can get AA if you live alone or with other people.
We can also assist with Disability Living Allowance and Attendance Allowance claims.
